Meeting of the Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The Sandy River Valley Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society will meet at the Farmington Public Library at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1. Presenter Kathy Lynch will share her expertise on "Researching the Immigrant German Ancestors in the 18th Century." Lynch will include ports of embarkation and ships; Philadelphia and Newcastle arrivals; waves of immigration; hazards and blocks to immigration; reaction to immigrants; records available and where to find them. The public is invited to attend, and donations are gladly accepted. SRVC collects, exchanges, preserves and publishes genealogical records, related documents and information. The group maintains a genealogical library and encourages those with an interest in genealogy to join their meetings on the first Saturday of each month. Most meetings are at the library, but some are off-site field trips. For more information, email joannepage@myfairpoint.net.
