Androscoggin River

The Androscoggin River has some of the best smallmouth bass fishing in the East. Brook trout, rainbow trout, and brown trout all live in the river, and some of these fish grow to be over 5 pounds. The average size is 12 to 15 inches for the bass, but larger ones are common.

For the fly fisherman, the river can offer the thrill of seeing bass blow up on your fly one after another. In shallow water there is nothing like it! The Androscoggin River runs clear enough that you can see the bass come out from under a rock before they come up and hit your fly, and then… hang on! Chesterville

Norcross Pond

From Mt. Blue High school, follow the Whittier Road to the end, turn left and go over the green bridge above the Sandy River. Take a right and follow the road to the Country Store in Chesterville, turn left. Follow the road past the camps and look for a turnout on the right about 5 miles past the store. Bass fishermen will never want to leave Norcross Pond since the pond is not fished heavily and provides great fishing.
