Snowmobiling

Local snowmobile clubs maintain well-groomed trails that connect the state's extensive trail system. Snowmobiling is certainly one of the area's most popular winter activities.

There are two major snowmobile trails running through the area, all groomed and they can easily take you to New Hampshire, Canada or the coast. These trails are:

ITS 89

Begin in Wilton on Route 156. This trail runs through Weld, Phillips, Rangeley, Eustis and Jackman to Quebec. It runs south from Wilton to Canton, Buckfield, Hebron, Oxford, Bridgton and into York County.

ITS 82

Begin on Routes 2 and 4 in Wilton. The trail runs west to Carthage, Dixfield, Mexico, Rumford, Andover, and all the way to New Hampshire. It runs east from Wilton to Mercer, Norridgewock, Skowhegan, Athens, Newport, Hermon, Winterport and Searsport.
