Buddy MacDonald is one of Canada's most respected singer song-writers and comes from a tradition steeped in Celtic and Folk music. Buddy has hosted the world famous Celtic Colours Festival Club for the last 15 years without missing a single evening. He is best known for setting to music his keen observation of life lived in the cities and rural parts of Eastern Canada. Audiences warm instantly to his infectious writing style and showmanship. Rachel Davis from Baddeck, Cape Breton spends her time switching from international festival stages to small local dances at home. In a genre that sees many performers pushing the envelope and testing new waters, her style of playing trad tunes in a trad way is a refreshing reminder of why the Cape Breton fiddle style drives so hard, and is so sought after. She has toured for several years in Maine with Master Cape Breton song-writer and entertainer Buddy MacDonald. During an interview following the release of Mick McAuley and Winifred Horan’s debut duet album SERENADE back in 2006, in reply to a question of how long it took to record, it was with a touch of irony in his voice that Mick responded with an admission that the album had indeed been “a little while in the making, alright!” For at that point, it had been almost twelve years since Mick and Winifred had first met and played together in Dublin and even at that early stage, had realized that there was something special in the music that was created between them at those first spontaneous sessions in Harcourt Street. Although, even back then they had talked about recording an album together, it was only after all those years had passed that the album had finally come to fruition. There had been several reasons for this of course, but one reason was that, back then in late 1994, an amazing group of musicians had recently come together in the thriving New York City music scene to record a groundbreaking album which was soon to take the Irish-American music world by storm. Winifred Horan was one of those musicians and it was at this time that the band SOLAS was born. Together with Seamus Egan, John Doyle, John Williams and Karan Casey, it wasn’t long before they were touring the U.S on a gruelling schedule and other projects had to be put on the back burner. After recording their second album “Sunny spells and Scattered Showers” John Williams, the accordionist and concertina player from Chicago had recently become a Dad and decided to leave the band. It was at this stage that Winifred made the call to Mick McAuley and asked him to join SOLAS on what has since proven to be a remarkable musical journey. Shortly thereafter, the band went back into the studio to record “The Words that Remain” which remains SOLAS’ best selling album to date. The sound of Winifred’s fiddle and Mick’s accordion have together gone on to become an integral part of the SOLAS sound and remain so to this day, while SOLAS ,in turn with eight other albums have gone on to become one of the most widely successful and highly respected bands in Irish Music

Acoustic Eidolon, featuring Joe Scott on double neck guitjo and Hannah Alkire on cello are from Colorado and have graced stages throughout the US, Europe, Australia and Canada. At only 18 years of age Kathleen already has international experience having performed in Ireland, Scotland and the USA as well as various parts of Canada. Among her many accomplishments a couple of highlights are competing at the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Co. Offaly 2008 and again in Co. Cavan, Ireland in 2010 and the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championships in Ottawa in both 2009 and 2010. It was also a distinct honour to appear in two concerts with Ashley MacIsaac in January 2010. Kathleen showcased at “Contact East” in Antigonish in September 2010. She released her second CD “Ceol Binn” (Irish for "Sweet Music") in July 2010. This CD was nominated for an ECMA award as Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year.

Trio of indie-folk, composed of three girls with vibrant personalities. From three of the four cardinal points of New Brunswick, Katrine Christmas Vivianne Roy and Julie Aubé intermingle their accents to create a relaxing atmosphere to present their own recipe for indie-folk. Even if their voices could make you shiver, their texts and stories you warm, momentarily, like a hot apple cider. "As musicians, we compose what we want to hear. Why not make a project between three good friends with three different styles, but that compliment very well. We play, generally, influenced tunes of folk roots with a smattering of indie, but why create boundaries and barriers? Basically, our goal is to bring a new sound in the music that carries speaking still a sense of nostalgia and comfort.

Kingfield is pleased to continue their annual winter artwalk. This year’s winter artwalk event will take place on the 1st Friday from September 2012 through April 2013. An additional summer artwalk event, featuring the Kingfield Pops and other festivities, will take place on June 28th. Take a village walking tour of Kingfield’s galleries and museums and enjoy a winter sleigh ride located in downtown Kingfield. Doors will be open from 5-8pm to view art, meet neighbors and artists, and enjoy refreshments. Some Fridays will offer live music and poetry readings.
