Foothills Land Conservancy Annual Meeting

Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Location: Academy Hill School Cafeteria, Wilton, Maine

The Foothills Land Conservancy will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, June 6 at 6:30pm at the Academy Hill School Cafeteria in Wilton. Following a short business meeting, Dr. Ann Dorney will make a presentation titled “For the love of birds.”

Dr. Dorney has been a family doctor in Skowhegan for 35 years, has served in the State Legislature, and works in the community on opiate addiction. Dr. Dorney currently serves as a trustee for Somerset Woods Trustees, a land trust in Skowhegan, and has led several vernal pool and bird walks over the years. She has camped all her life, save one year, after which she vowed she would never do that again. Dr. Dorney credits her passion for birds to her professor at Earlham College, Jim Cope, who was an incredible ornithologist and teacher. He taught her how to call in owls, watch for raptors along the highway and pull off the road if you see an interesting pond.

The public is invited to attend. Email foothillslandconservancy@gmail.com for more information.
